Efficacy of MECT Combined with Drug Therapy on Patients with Schizophrenia and Its Influence on Serum BDNF,GFAP and PRL Levels
Objective:To explore the efficacy of modified electroconvulsive therapy(MECT)combined with drug therapy in the treatment of patients with schizophrenia and its influence on serum levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)and prolactin(PRL)levels.Method:A total of eighty-two patients with schizophrenia admitted to Jiangxi Mental Hospital from January 2021 to May 2023 were included, and were divided into observation group and control group by random number table method, with 41 cases in each group. The control group was given antipsychotic drugs with Risperidone+Olanzapine, and the observation group was added with MECT intervention on the basis of the control group. The mental state[positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS)],cognitive state[Montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA)],memory function[Wechsler memory scale(WMS)],executive function[Wisconsin card sorting test(WCST)],serum indicators(BDNF,GFAP,PRL)and occurrence of adverse reactions were compared before and after treatment.Result:After treatment, the scores of positive symptoms, negative symptoms and general psychopathology of PANSS,error response count and first classified response count of WCST and levels of GFAP and PRL were reduced in both groups compared to those before treatment, and the those in observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the MoCA score, scores of recognition, picture, association and digit memory of WMS,completed classification count, correct response count and conceptual level percentage of WCST and level of BDNF in the two groups were all increased compared to those before treatment(P<0.05),and those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no difference in adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:MECT combined with antipsychotic drug therapy has an exact efficacy, and it can significantly improve the mental symptoms, cognitive dysfunction, memory dysfunction and executive dysfunction, and enhance the brain nutrition state, with good safety.
