Clinical Study of Microwave Ablation Combined with Anhydrous Ethanol Ablation in the Treatment of Patients with Cystic Thyroid Nodules
Objective:To investigate the effect of microwave ablation(MWA)combined with anhydrous ethanol ablation(EA)on clinical symptoms, nodule volume and thyroid function in patients with cystic thyroid nodules.Method:A total of 81 patients with cystic thyroid nodules who were admitted to Ganxian People's Hospital,Ganzhou City from January 2021 to June 2022 were selected, they were divided into a control group(40 cases)and an observation group(41 cases)by random number table method. The control group was treated with ultrasound-guided MWA,and the observation group was treated combined with EA on the basis of the control group. The nodule volume and volume reduction rates at different time, clinical efficacy, thyroid function[triiodothyronine(T3),thyroxine(T4),free triiodothyronine(FT3),free thyronine(FT4)and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH)]and incidence of postoperative complications were compared between groups.Result:There was no statistically significant difference in preoperative nodule volume between the two groups(P>0.05);at 1,3,6 and 12 months after surgery, nodule volume in the observation group were smaller than those in the control group, and the nodule reduction rate were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate in the observation group(92.68% )was significantly higher than that in the control group(72.50% ),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before surgery and at 12 months after surgery, there were no statistically significant differences in the levels of T3,T4,FT3,FT4 and TSH in the two groups(P>0.05).The incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group(7.32% )was significantly lower than that in the control group(25.00% ),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:MWA combined with EA treatment can reduce the volume of thyroid nodules, improve clinical efficacy, and effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative complications in patients with cystic thyroid nodules, without significant impact on thyroid function.
