Effect of Self-ligating Bracket,No Brackets and Tip-Edge-Plus Brackets on the Periodontal Status of Patients Undergoing Orthodontic Treatment for Periodontitis
Objective:To investigate the effects of self-ligating bracket,no brackets and Tip-Edge-Plus brackets on the periodontal status of patients undergoing orthodontic treatment for periodontitis.Method:A total of sixty patients with periodontitis with malocclusion who were treated at the Jingzhou Third People's Hospital from November 2021 to January 2023 were selected, the patients were divided into the self-ligating bracket group(group A),the bracketless group(group B),and the Tip-Edge-Plus bracket group(group C)in accordance with the order of admission and the principle of voluntariness, with 20 patients in each group(436 teeth in each group),periodontal status before orthodontics treatment and six months later were recorded.Result:The success rate of group B was higher than that of group A and group C,the differences were statistically significant(x2=6.364,8.224,P<0.05),and the total effective rate was higher than that of group C,the difference was statistically significant(x2=4.379,P<0.05).After treatment, the probing depth(PD),clinical attachment loss(CAL),bleeding on probing index(BOP)and bleeding index(BI)in group B were significantly lower than those in group C,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);the gingival recession index(GR)was higher than that in group C,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, tooth looseness(TM)Ⅲ degree in group A and group B were significantly lower than those in group C,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);TM Ⅱ degree in group B was significantly lower than that in group A and group C,the differences were statistically significant(x2=4.624,5.101,P<0.05).Conclusion:Invisible braces without brackets may be more preferable to self-ligating brackets and Tip-Edge-Plus brackets for orthodontic treatment of patients with periodontitis.
