Study on Effect of Oocyte Maturation on ICSI Outcomes in Elderly Patients
Objective:To investigate the effect of oocyte maturation on intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)outcomes in elderly patients.Method:A total of 142 elderly patients who received ICSI assisted pregnancy in Ganzhou Women and Children's Health Care Hospital from January 2019 to December 2022 were selected as the research subjects, according to the degree of oocyte maturation(the ratio of mature oocytes to oocytes obtained),the patients were divided into group A(maturity>80%,n=104),group B(60%<maturity≤80%,n=28)and group C(maturity≤60%,n=10).Oocyte retrieval and pregnancy outcomes[fertilization rate,bipronuclear(2PN)fertilization rate,high-quality embryo rate, blastocyst formation rate and cumulative clinical pregnancy rate]were compared among the three groups.Result:There were statistically significant differences in oocyte retrieval rate, average number of retrieved oocytes, number of follicles≥14 mm and MⅡ rate of oocytes among the three groups(P<0.05).The oocyte retrieval rate, average number of retrieved oocytes, number of follicles≥14 mm and MⅡ rate of oocytes in group A were significantly higher than those in group B and group C(P<0.05).The fertilization rate,high-quality embryo rate, blastocyst formation rate and cumulative pregnancy rate showed no statistically significant differences among the three groups(P>0.05).The difference in fertilization rate of 2PN among the three groups was statistically significant, and 2PN fertilization rate in group A was the highest(P<0.05).The cumulative pregnancy rate of group A and group B was higher than that of group C,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:ICSI outcomes in elderly patients is influenced by oocyte maturation, and low oocyte maturation has adverse effect on oocyte retrieval, fertilization and embryonic development.
