The Effect of Banlangen Granules in the Treatment of Acute Radiation-induced Oral Mucositis in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Patients
Objective:To analyze the efficacy of Banlangen Granules in the treatment of acute radiation-induced oral mucositis in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Method:A total of sixty patients with acute radiation-induced oral mucositis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma admitted to Ganzhou Cancer Hospital from June 2021 to April 2024 were selected as the research subjects, they were divided into a control group(n=30),and an experimental group(n=30)by random number table method. The control group received radiotherapy and conventional treatment, the experimental group received radiotherapy, conventional treatment, and Banlangen Granules. The clinical efficacy, traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores, quality of life, degree of oral pain, serum hypoxia inducible factor-1 α(HIF-1α),and adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH)levels between two groups were evaluated and compared.Result:Compared with the control group, total effective rate in the experimental group was higher(P<0.05).Before treatment, traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores,Karnofsky performance status(KPS),numerical rating scale(NRS)scores, and serum levels of HIF-1α and ACTH between the two groups, the differences were not statistically significant(P>0.05);after treatment, the levels of TCM syndrome score,NRS score, serum HIF-1α and ACTH in the two groups were decreased compared to those before treatment, and the experimental group were lower;and the KPS score was increased, and the experimental group was higher(P<0.05).Conclusion:After treatment with Banlangen Granules, patients with acute radiation-induced oral mucositis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma show improvement in clinical symptoms, pain relief and quality of life, and decrease in serum levels of HIF-1 α and ACTH.
