Research Progress of Traditional Chinese Medicine Extracts in the Treatment and Drug Resistance of Gastrointestinal Malignant Tumors Through Ferroptosis
Traditional Chinese medicine can regulate ferroptosis through various mechanisms and provide a new strategy for tumor treatment. Ferroptosis is a form of iron-dependent cell death,which is closely related to the occurrence,development,treatment and drug resistance of tumors. The strategies of traditional Chinese medicine extracts in tumor therapy have attracted wide attention. By regulating iron metabolism,affecting lipid metabolism,playing an antioxidant role and interfering with ferroptosis signaling pathway,traditional Chinese medicine extracts can promote tumor cell death and enhance sensitivity to existing therapies. In addition,its potential low toxicity and diverse pharmacological activities make it an important supplement to improve chemotherapy sensitivity and overcome chemotherapy resistance. Therefore,this paper reviews the mechanism of ferroptosis and the latest progress of traditional Chinese medicine extracts in the treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies,discusses the relationship between traditional Chinese medicine extracts and drug resistance of gastrointestinal malignancies through ferroptosis and further discussed its potential value,so as to provide a new research idea for the clinical treatment of tumor resistance.
