[Objective]To design a simple and practical assessment system of activity of daily living(ADL)for the elderly by using the software tool of MATLAB App Designer,so as to improve the information management level of traditional assessment.[Methods]Based on the Barthel index,the ADL assessment system for the elderly was designed by using the software of MATLAB App Designer.[Results]The system integrated the user login,assessed information collection,ADL assessment and query statistics together,fully to meet the needs of the elderly ADL assessment work.[Conclusion]The ADL assessment system of the graphical user interface for the elderly has achieved the shift from"Manual plus paper questionnaire"to"Software plus system assessment".It is convenient for the practical application of the informationization construction of the old-age institutions.
