Objective To explore the kangaroo nursing of premature infants on parental stress and parenting competence of their mothers. Methods Forty preterm infants and their mothers admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit between June 2022 and February 2023 were selected and divided into a control group and an observation group, each of 20,according to a random number table. Both groups were given routine nursing, while the observation group was additionally provided with kangaroo nursing. Then both groups were evaluated using the parenting competence scale and the parental stress scale. Results Significant differences were observed in the parenting competence score between the two groups in terms of time,inter-group and interaction effects(Ftime = 64.173,P<0.001;Finter-group =7.061,P=0.002;Finteraction =3.158,P=0.006).Moreover,significant differences were found in the parental stress score between the two groups in terms of time,inter-group and interaction effects(Ftime=58.291,P<0.001;Finter-group = 14.175,P=0.001;Finteraction =2.514,P=0.004).Conclusion Kangaroo nursing can reduce the parental pressure of the mothers of super premature infants and improve their parenting competence. This method is worthy of clinical application.
