Objective To evaluate the effect of situational simulation teaching based on objective structured clinical examination(OSCE)in the training of the operating room nurses. Methods Seventy-eight operating room nurses who participated in the training in the first affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou university were selected as the study objects. They were grouped according to the order of training time.Forty nurses receiving the training of the operating room specialist nurses between Aprill and June 2021 were selected into the control group, while another 38 trained in the following year of the same month were chosen into the experimental group. The control group was given routine situational simulation teaching, while the experimental group received that based on OSCE.After training, both groups were evaluated their operation skills and clinical thinking. Results The scores of handover of surgical patients, surgical posture and prevention of occupational exposure of the experimental group were significantly higher than that of the control group(t=4.616,P<0.001;t=3.004,P=0.004;t=3.574,P= 0.001).Moreover,the clinical thinking of the experimental group was also significantly better than the latter(t= 7.309,P<0.001).Conclusion OSCE-based situational simulation teaching help to improve the operational skills and clinical thinking of operating room nurses. Therefore,it is worth application in the clinical practice.
