Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of sebaceous follicles,which mostly affects adolescents and is also popular in adults.Acne vulgaris is the most common type of acne,which is caused by increased sebum secretion,abnormal keratinization,bacterial colonization and inflammation.It is mainly manifested as open or closed comedones,papules,pustules,nodules,and cysts.Although acne vulgaris is not a health threaten problem,the active skin lesion and the sequela including scar and pigmentation induce significant psychological pressure and economic burden to patients.Treatment plans should be personalized basing on the severity and types of skin lesions.In addition,whole-process management of acne vulgaris is necessary for a better life quality,including health education,controlling active lesions,and improvement of the scar and pigmentation.
