Blood deficiency and wind dryness syndrome is common in Chinese medicine dermatology,which covers a variety of chronic skin diseases with dry,itchy and desquamative skin as the main clinical manifestations.In this paper,through tracing back the Chinese medicine theories of blood deficiency and wind dryness syndrome,we have elaborated the pathogenesis and pathological process of the syndrome.Combined with the modern biological research,we have explored the biological basis of the syndrome from the aspects of heredity,skin barriers,metabolism and immunisation.In addition,reviewing the current status of Chinese medicine and Western medicine in the treatment of blood deficiency and wind-dryness syndrome,the advantages and challenges of the combination of Chinese and Western medicine were pointed out to provide new ideas and methods for the prevention and treatment of skin diseases.
