Objective:To study the influence of common radionuclides in measuring bone mineral density(BMD)by using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA)in medical examination and therapy. Methods:Both the special quality assurance(QA)module of DXA equipment and the spine phantom were scanned by routine scan. The scan was performed after the common radionuclides included 99Tcm-methylene diphosphonate(99Tcm-MDP),18F-fluorodeoxyglucose(18F-FDG)and sodium iodide(Na131I)were respectively added into sink beside of QA module and spine phantom. The high, middle and low BMD values, the percentage value of body composition, the BMD values of the 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th lumbar spine(L1,L2,L3,L4),and the average BMD value of 4-segment lumbar spines(L1-L4),T value, which were obtained from measure, were compared and analyzed. Results:There were no significant differences in high, middle and low BMD values and the percentage of body composition between the scan after 99Tcm-MDP,18F-FDG and Na131I were respectively placed next to QA module and the routine scan of QA module(FBMD=1.621,0.259,0.099,FBody Composition=0.367,0.151,0.635,P>0.05).There were no significant differences in BMD values and T values of L1,L2,L3 and L4,and the L1-L4 between the scan after 99Tcm-MDP,18F-FDG and Na131I were respectively injected in the sink of spine phantom and the routine scan of spine phantom(FBMD=0.435,0.529,0.507,0.489,0.516,FT=0.634,1.585,0.961,0.777,0.801,P>0.05).Conclusion:The common radionuclides 99Tcm-MDP,18F-FDG and Na131I do not affect the DXA measure for BMD in nuclear medicine examination and therapy.
