Mechanism of Qiangli Pipa Syrup in the Treatment of Chronic Bronchitis in Model Mice
Objective To investigate the mechanism of Qiangli Pipa Syrup in the treatment of chronic bronchitis in model mice.Methods A total of 72 NIH mice were randomly divided into the blank control group(group A,12 mice,equal volume of pure water)and the model group(60 mice).The mice in the model group were smoked and inhaled lipopolysaccharide to establish the chronic bronchitis mice models.After 45 d of modeling,the mice in the model group were randomly divided into the model control group(group B,equal volume of pure water),the ambroxol hydrochloride group(group C,10 mL/kg),and low-,medium-,and high-dose groups of Qiangli Pipa Syrup(groups D1,D2,D3,7.5,15,30 mL/kg),with 12 mice(half male and half female)in each group.Mice in each group were given gastric gavage at a dose of 30 mL/kg once daily for 14 d.At 24 h after the last administration,the serum of mice was collected to measure the levels of interleukin(IL)-6 and IL-8,the right lung tissue was collected to determine the contents of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),malondialdehyde(MDA),and superoxide dismutase(SOD),and the histopathology of the bronchial and left lung tissues was tested.Results Compared with those in group B,the MDA content in the lung tissue in group D1 was significantly lower(P<0.01);the serum IL-8 level and the MDA content in lung tissue in group D2 were significantly lower(P<0.05);the serum IL-8 level and the TNF-α and MDA contents in lung tissue in group D3 were significantly lower(P<0.05),while the SOD content in lung tissue in group D3 was significantly higher(P<0.05).Compared with those in group C,the serum IL-8 level in group D1 was significantly higher(P<0.05),while the SOD content in lung tissue in group D1 was significantly lower(P<0.05).The histopathological staining result showed a reduction in the degree of chronic bronchitis in groups D1,D2,and D3 compared with that in group B.Conclusion The mechanism of Qiangli Pipa Syrup in the treatment of chronic bronchitis in model mice may be related to the reduction of IL-8,TNF,MDA contents,and the increase of SOD content.
