Large-Area Erythema Induced by Carboprost Tromethamine:A Case Report and Literature Analysis
Objective To provide a reference for the safe use of Carboprost Tromethamine Injection in clinical practice. Methods The treatment process of a case of large-area erythema(26 cm×25 cm)at the administration site induced by intramuscular injection of Carboprost Tromethamine Injection admitted to the Weifang Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital was analyzed retrospectively. The causes of this adverse drug reaction(ADR)were explored based on literature analysis. Results The causal relationship between the occurrence of large-area erythema at the injection site and the use of carboprost tromethamine was ″probable ″(the score of Naranjo's ADR evaluation scale was eight points).Literature showed that this ADR might be related to the drug factors[benzyl alcohol(excipient)and tromethamine(main component)],administration method(intramuscular injection)and individual differences[advanced age(>30 years),obesity(body weight>70 kg),spontaneous delivery)].Conclusion Large-area erythema is a new ADR of Carboprost Tromethamine Injection.Medication safety monitoring and risk identification should be strengthened in clinical practice to ensure the safe drug use for patients.
