Clinical Observation of Lingzhu Powder Combined with Metformin in the Treatment of Metabolic Syndrome with Spleen Deficiency and Dampness Obstruction Syndrome
Objective To investigate the effect of Lingzhu Powder combined with metformin on physical indicators,biochemical indicators,and inflammatory factor levels in patients with metabolic syndrome(MS)with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction syndrome.Methods A total of 88 patients with MS with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction syndrome admitted to the Yixing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from October 2020 to March 2023 were selected and divided into the control group and the study group by the random number table method,with 44 cases in each group.The patients in the two groups were treated with metformin combined with conventional comprehensive treatment,on this basis,the patients in the study group were treated with Lingzhu Powder.Both groups were treated for 12 weeks.Results After treatment,the physical indicators(body mass,body mass index,waist circumference,hip circumference),biochemical indicators(systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose,fasting insulin,insulin resistance index,triglycerides,total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol)in the two groups significantly decreased(P<0.05),and those in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of inflammatory factors(C-reactive protein,tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-6)in the two groups significantly decreased(P<0.05),and those in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in the two groups significantly increased(P<0.05),and that in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).During the treatment,no patients in the two groups had any adverse reactions such as nausea,vomiting,or abdominal pain.Conclusion Lingzhu Powder combined with metformin in the treatment of patients with MS with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction syndrome can reduce the body mass,body mass index,waist circumference,and hip circumference,regulate blood pressure,glucose metabolism,and lipid metabolism indicators,alleviate inflammatory reactions,and it has high safety.
