Systematic Evaluation and Meta-analysis of Electroacupuncture Combined with Bladder Function Training for the Treatment of Neurogenic Bladder after Spinal Cord Injury
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture combined with bladder function training in the treatment of neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury by Meta-analysis.Methods:The Cochrane Library,Clinical Trials,Database,PubMed,CNKI,Wanfang Data, and VIP Data databases were systematically searched according to the proposed literatune inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the literature was assessed for quality in accordance with the Risk of Bias Assessment Handbook provided by the Cochrane Collaboration,Meta-analysis was performed using Rev Man 5.3 software. Results:A total of 535 papers were initially retrieved, and 20 papers(19 in Chinese and 1 in English)were finally included according to the criteria. The results showed that:treatment efficacy[OR=0.26,95%CI(0.15,0.44),P<0.00001],number of urination[MD=-2.89,95%CI(-3.26,-2.51),P<0.00001],mean urine output[MD=65.20,95%CI(51.99,78.42),P<0.00001],maximum bladder capacity[MD=44.25,95%CI(29.96,58.54),P<0.00001],maximum urine flow rate[MD=2.08,95%CI(1.21,2.95),P<0.00001],residual urine volume[MD=-31.30,95%CI(-41.41,-21.18),P<0.00001].Conclusion:Electroacupuncture combined with bladder function training can help improve the clinical outcome of neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury. However, this study has some limitations and higher quality randomized con-trolled studies are needed.
