Research Progress on Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for Cervical Spondylosis
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy(ESWT)is a new physiotherapy method for musculoskeletal diseases, which has good analgesic,anti-inflammatory,improving blood circulation, promoting repair functions for bone and soft tissue diseases, and is applied in chronic soft tissue diseases such as bone nonunion, osteonecrosis, fasciitis, periarthritis of shoulder, cervical spondylosis, and lumbago in clinic.Cervical spondylosis is a common chronic degenerative disease in clinic, which is associated with many factors such as cervical para-cervical muscle strain, cervical intervertebral disc degeneration, and bone hyperplasia. In recent years, more and more studies have explored the feasibility and efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave therapy in the treatment of cervical spondylosis. Many studies have shown that extracorporeal shock wave therapy can effectively improve pain, cervical dysfunction, vertigo and other symptoms in patients with cervical spondylosis, and with high safety. In this study, the mechanism of action, treatment plan, clinical efficacy, side effects and research prospect of extracorporeal shock wave therapy in the treatment of cervical spondylosis were reviewed by searching relevant literatures at home and abroad,so as to provide reference for the treatment of cervical spondylosis by extracorporeal shock wave therapy.
