Objective:To study the diagnostic value of gray scale ultrasound and color Doppler flow imaging in the clinical staging of transient synovitis of the hip(TSH)in children. Methods:A total of 80 children with TSH were selected, and all were unilateral TSH.The healthy side was selected as the control group.According to the duration of illness, symptoms, signs and imaging results, the dis-ease was divided into Ⅰ-Ⅳ stages. The anterior cervical space, synovial thickness and color Doppler flow grading were measured, and the correlation between these indicators and clinical stages was analyzed. Results:The anterior cervical space and color Doppler flow grading of the affected side were higher than those of the healthy side(P<0.05).There was a significant positive correlation between anterior cervical space, hip joint cavity effusion, color Doppler flow grading and the clinical stage(P<0.05).Stepwise regression analy-sis showed that the risk factors for clinical staging of TSH were age, duration of illness, and color Doppler flow grading of the affected side. Conclusion:Gray scale ultrasound and color Doppler flow grading can provide imaging indicators for TSH in children.Color Dop-pler ultrasound flow imaging can reflect the micro blood flow in the thickened synovium of the hip joint, which has important value in diag-nosing TSH in children and its clinical staging.
