Research Progress on Treatment of Children Adenoidal Hypertrophy with Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and Its Effect on Levels of Interleukins
Adenoidal hypertrophy(AH)is a common pediatric disease, involving the participation of multiple cytokines during its pathogenesis, particularly the crucial role played by interleukin(IL).Studies have shown that IL1 to IL18 are involved in different patho-logical stages of AH in children and have bidirectional regulatory effects on airway inflammation. In traditional Chinese medicine,Chi-nese herbal medicine regulates the inflammatory state or immune function of the body by modulating the expression of cytokines such as IL.In Western medicine, drugs such as antihistamines, glucocorticoids, and leukotriene receptor antagonists affect the expression and activity of cytokines including IL,thus treating AH.Additionally, surgical methods such as adenoidectomy, suction curettage, and plasma ablation also have varying degrees of impact on IL levels.Meanwhile, the combined application of traditional Chinese and West-ern medicine also affects IL levels in the body, demonstrating a certain therapeutic effect. The changes of IL levels in the body play a cer-tain role in the pathogenesis of AH and its complications in children, and become a key area of progress in the treatment of AH and its complications in children. In the future, further exploration of the interaction mechanism between IL and other signaling pathways, the relationship and impact of IL gene polymorphisms with AH in children,as well as strategies for the independent or combined application of IL in the treatment of AH in children, are needed to provide more scientific evidence and research ideas for the treatment of AH in children.
