Taxifolin,an active natural dihydroflavonol,exhibits a range of notable pharmacological activities,including antioxidant properties and cardiovascular and hepatic protection effects.Widely utilized in the cosmetic,health,food,and medical industries,taxifolin plays a crucial role in the treatment of liver and cardiovascular diseases.While traditionally extracted from plants,limited yields hinder its widespread application.Recent advancements in biosynthetic methods present new opportunities for efficient production.This review delves into the structural characteristics,biosynthetic pathways,pharmacological effects,and production techniques of taxifolin,while also exploring the potential integration of synthetic biology technologies to enhance taxifolin production in the future.
