Polyamines play an important role in tumour development, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.Polyamines include putrescine, spermine, spermidine and so on.The results from clinical and experimental studies have shown that polyamine metabolic abnormalities have been found in multiple forms during tumourigenesis and development. The study of the abnormalities is of great value for the study of biochemical markers in tumour-targeted therapy and immunotherapy. With the increasing understanding of the role of polyamines in tumour development and therapy, there is a growing interest in anti-tumour intervention strategies targeting polyamine metabolism. This review not only focuses on the relationship between polyamine/polyamine-metabolism and the progression of different type of tumour, but also aims to summarize the drug targets and development strategies for clinical prevention and treatment for the regulation of polyamine metabolism.
