Asafetida is a common drug used at home and abroad,which occurs frequently in Huihui Yaofang,but there may be homonym.In this paper,the 5 categories can be translated into ‘Awei’ in Huihui Yaofang were verified in detail through studying philology and herbalism.Results:‘Keshen’,a traditional medicine of the Hui nationality-aconitum was confirmed as Levisticum officinale which was one of the umbelliferae plants through textual researching.‘Angudan’ and ‘Heili Titi’ were the Ferula asafetida L which were the umbelliferae plants.‘Saji Bienazhi’ and ‘Saeyin’ were the Ferula persica Wild which is the umbelliferae plant.
