Influence of innovative daily technologies for stability of Ming dynasty oral paste
Prior to the emergence of modern microbiology and chemistry, humans utilized various methods to store medicines and foods, despite not understanding the underlying principles of preventing spoilage and decay.By analyzing relevant literature on Ming dynasty medicinal oral paste from a technological development perspective, this study reveals a close relationship between the innovative daily technologies of the Ming dynasty and the stability of oral paste. The large-scale production of distilled liquor, the three-year brewing of vinegar, the production of deep well brine, the preparation of decolorized white sugar, and the promotion of edible vegetable oils were reflected in the oral paste preparation process of that time and had a profound impact on the stability of oral paste.Furthermore, the stability process of Ming dynasty ointments has medical value, cultural value and ecological value. The stability process of oral paste has the characteristic of'food and medicine sharing the same source',and the use of'five flavors'to maintain the stability of oral paste has a natural and environmentally friendly feature.
