Research progress of tongue features in chronic atrophic gastritis patients
Chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG)is a common disease in clinic and may progress to gastric cancer.Tongue diagnosis plays an important role in traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation and treatment efficacy evaluation, and is widely used in spleen and stomach diseases. This article reviews the characteristics of tongue in patients with CAG,in order to provide highlights for further auxiliary diagnosis and treatment of CAG.The previous findings are summarized as follows:patients with CAG have red, light red, plump tongue and/or tooth-marked tongue,tooth-marked tongue, white tongue coating, and thin and yellow tongue coating. In the progress of the disease, the tongue color develops from light to red, purple, and dark, and the tongue coating develops from white to yellow and black, and from thin to thick and greasy. The helicobacter pylori infection status, the degree of pathological changes, and the status of gastric mucosa under gastroscopy in CAG patients all relate to tongue features, and these results may provide valuable references for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of CAG.
