Biomechanical characteristics of the core elements of traditional Chinese medicine tuina kneading
Objective:To study the biomechanical characteristics of core elements of traditional Chinese medicine tuina kneading, including strength, uniformity, gentleness, and depth. Methods:Novice and experienced tuina practitioners were selected to join the novice group and experienced group,10 people per group,a glove dynamic pressure distribution measuring system was used to collect mechanical parameters during 3 minutes of thumb kneading and palm base kneading,10 parameters including maximum force, peak pressure,force-time integral(FT1),and pressure-time integral(PTI)were analyzed. Results:The difference in wave peak values of thumb kneading and palm base kneading in experienced group was significantly lower than that in novice group(P<0.01,P<0.05),all mechanical parameters except the difference in wave peak values of thumb kneading were significantly higher than novice group(P<0.05,P<0.01),the maximum force, average force, force range,PTI,FTI,and frequency of palm base kneading were significantly higher than novice group(P<0.05,P<0.01).Conclusion:The maximum force and average force of kneading in experienced group are both large;small difference in force peaks wave, uniform waveform, stable power output and small movement deformation amplitude;FTI&PTI are both large and cumulative effect of force is great reflecting the biomechanical characteristics of core elements of traditional Chinese medicine tuina kneading, including strength, uniformity, gentleness, and depth.
