Research on central responses to different acupuncture manipulations with reinforcing-reducing based on fNIRS
Objective:To investigate the central-response modes during the even reinforcing-reducing manipulation with lifting-thrusting(ERR),the lifting-thrusting reinforcing manipulation(LTRei),and the lifting-thrusting reducing manipulation(LTRed)by functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS).Methods:A total of 35 healthy male participants were included in this random crossover-design study.fNIRS data were recorded during the LTRei,LTRed,and ERR.The cortical activation analysis based on general linear model based(GLM)and the functional connectivity(FC)based on regions of interest(ROIs)analysis were combined to be conducted. Results:Three acupuncture manipulations all induced significantly cortical hemodynamic responses and increased functional connectivity between brain regions(PFDR<0.05).Different cortical hemodynamic responses were elicited by three acupuncture manipulations in bilateral dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(DLPFC)and left primary sensory cortex(S1)(PFDR<0.05).Conclusion:Bilateral DLPFC and left frontoparietal network are common brains in response to different acupuncture manipulations.Bilateral DLPFC and left S1 might be the potential brain regions that for different effects of different acupuncture with reinforcing-reducing manipulations.
