Correlation between morphological traits of Amomi Fructus and contents of internal components based on grey relational analysis
Objective:The non-volatile components in Amomi Fructus were used as the target components, which were further compared with the currently recognized volatile oil components, and then the correlation between those two groups of key morphologic traits of Amomi Fructus was analyzed,so as to illustrate the rationality and scientificity of the quality evaluation indicators of Amomi Fructus. Methods:Taking different batches of Amomi Fructus samples from different varieties as the research objects, firstly HPLC was used to determine the content of non-volatile components(quercetin,C1,C17),whilst GC to determine the content of four main volatile components(borneol, camphor, limonene, and bornyl acetate)in Amomi Fructus.Secondly, through the electronic nose and the measurement of 100-fruit weight, transverse diameter, longitudinal diameter, and longitudinal diameter/transverse diameter ratio,a quantitative analysis was conducted on the traditional character identification characteristics of Amomi Fructus.Thirdly, grey correlation analysis was employed to analyze the correlation between inner chemical compounds and external morphological traits. Results:The results show that the correlation degree is as follows, from high to low:borneol(r=0.751)>quercitrin(r=0.745)>camphor(r=0.711)>limonene(r=0.682)>C1(r=0.568)>borneol acetate(r=0.540)>C17(r=0.505).Obviously,quercitrin as a non-volatile monitoring component, its degree of association with traits was second only to borneol,it was suggested that quercetin should be considered as a supplement to complement existing Amomi Fructus quality standards. Conclusion:The correlation analysis could not only clarify the scientificity of the traditional character identification characteristics of Amomi Fructus, reflects the overall idea of'assessing inner quality by distinguishing external features based on human organoleptic experience',but also effectively combine the target components with the quality of the medicinal materials, which is beneficial to the improvement of the Amomi Fructus quality evaluation system.
