Exploratory application of infrared thermography in identifying health status of Bigu subjects
Objective:To observe the effect of infrared thermography(IRT)on the health status of 7-day Bigu subjects. Methods:A total of 36 subjects who participated in the 7-day Bigu(7-day water fasting, combined with traditional Chinese medicine qigong practice)of the Beijing Institute of Taoist Medicine were selected to measure their BMI,blood pressure, blood sugar and infrared thermal imaging before and after Bigu. The changes of various indicators and the distribution of infrared temperature before and after Bigu were analyzed. Results:After 7-day Bigu, the subjects'BMI decreased significantly than that before Bigu(P<0.01).The blood pressure of the hypotensive subjects significantly increased, and blood pressure of the hypertensive subjects significantly decreased(P<0.01).The blood sugar of the hypoglycemic subject significantly increased, the blood sugar of the high blood sugar population subject significantly decreased(P<0.05),and the changes remained within the normal range. The infrared thermal imaging changed to uniformity, gradual change and symmetry, and the temperature of the front and back trunk increased significantly. The temperature gradually decreased from the upper limbs to the four extremities, and the temperature symmetry on the left and right sides of the body improved. Conclusion:Bigu can quickly lose weight, and has bidirectional regulation on blood pressure and blood sugar.Combined with the changes of infrared thermal imaging,it shows that Bigu can regulate the body surface temperature and may improve the health of the human body to a certain extent.IRT can be served as an objective extension of traditional Chinese medicine inspection, providing new ideas for traditional Chinese medicine identification and diagnosis.
