Clinical efficacy observation of neck and shoulder myofascial pain syndrome by acupuncture trigger points to stimulate qi extending affected parts
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of neck and shoulder myofascial pain syndrome by acupuncture trigger points to stimulate qi extending affected parts.Methods:Ninety-two samples were collected from patients treated at Department of Acupuncture,Beijing Shijitan Hosipital,Capital Medical University from Jan 2019 to Jun 2022.The patients were separated evenly into the treatment group and control group,46 cases in each group. The control group acupunctured at sinew bind points on the scapula, and the treatment group took the trigger points of the scalenus muscle.'Affect parts'refered to the area of the pain, and the'qi extending'was the needle sensation transmitted to that area.VAS and NDI were utilised to analyse and indicate the curative effects. After 1 month follow-up,the recurrence rate of the two groups was compared. Results:After the treatment,NDI and VAS in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.0l).The total effective rate of the treatment group[84.8%(39/46)]was significantly higher than that of the control group[63.0%(29/46)](P<0.05).The recurrence rate of the treatment group[23.9%(11/46)]was significantly lower than that of control group[52.2%(22/46)].Conclusion:Utilisation of the referred pain of the trigger point has the advantages of ease of operation, fast therapeutic effect, low recurrence rate, and a short acupuncture period on treating qi extending affected parts. The possible mechanism of qi extending affected parts is related to the nerve impulse trigger and nerve impingement release.
