Experience of TCM master LIAO Pinzheng in treating optic atrophy with Moschus
As one of the common and refractory eye diseases, optic atrophy is characterized by a complex etiology, high incidence rate, long disease course, and a high rate of blindness. This paper summarizes professor LIAO Pinzheng's experience in treating optic atrophy with Moschus.According to professor LIAO,the disease's etiology and pathogenesis stem from a mixture of deficient and substantial factors, with blood stasis obstructing the orifices and blocking the Xuanfu. Therefore, she advocates the adoption of'opening the Xuanfu and activating blood circulation'throughout the treatment.Additionally, depending on the different stages of disease development,a small amount of Moschus powder should be taken orally, and the relationship between dispelling blood stasis and'stasis'should be balanced.Based on the syndrome differetiation and treatment,Moschus is used to unchoke eye connector. This approach has shown promising results in improving patients'visual function and holds great reference significance for the clinical treatment of ophthalmology in traditional Chinese medicine.
