Acquisition of Xiang:Exploring accuracy and standardization in the transmission of traditional Chinese medicine Xiang
The transmission of Xiang in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is characterized by accuracy and standardization. In many cases,'Xiang'serves as the most accurate expression of'Yi',meaning or intention. To achieve a precise interpretation of'Xiang'ancient medical practitioners employed methods such as direct description, guided observation, experiential guidance, mutual comparison, graphic representation, and layered interpretation. However, due to the inherent risks of linguistic expression and cultural background, the transmission of'Xiang'still faces uncertainties. It requires standardization through methods such as Master-disciple inheritance, establishing textual references, and conducting examinations to ensure the accurate transmission of'Xiang'.In the present era,the transmission of'Xiang'encounters challenges related to cultural differences and the lack of guarantees in mentorship.Nevertheless, advancements in technology have reduced the reliance on'words'during the transmission process, effectively safeguarding the accuracy and standardization of TCM's metaphorical concepts.
