Origin,evolution and contention of the theory of life gate pulse diagnosis
Through reviewing the origin of the theory of life gate pulse diagnosis and its development and evolution in various historical periods,the article finds that the theory of diagnosing life gate by taking chi pulse originated from the augury book Hetu,which was formed in the late Western Han dynasty.The theory of diagnosing life gate by taking right chi pulse was established based on the five elements and Hetu during the Wei and Jin dynasties.The theory of diagnosing the xiang-fire of life gate,pericardium and Sanjiao by taking right chi pulse developed during the Song dynasty was questioned in the Yuan dynasty,however,by the Ming dynasty,the diagnosis and treatment system for life gate diseases had developed to a relatively complete stage,the theory of taking right chi pulse for the xiang-fire of the life gate had not been overturned,and it was not until the Qing dynasty,influenced by the trend of positivist textual research,that this theory was shaken.In modern times,the controversy over the pulse diagnosis of life gate reached its peak.The theory of life gate pulse diagnosis in practical clinical application should not be dogmatic,but flexible,with the four diagnostic methods combined to ensure correct differentiation of symptoms and signs.
