Practice status and effect evaluation of pharmacy-managed clinics in medical institutions in China
OBJECTIVE To systematically summarize the current practice status and implementation effects of pharmacist-managed clinics(PMC)in healthcare institutions in China and provide reference for further improvement of PMC norms,pro-cesses and evaluation systems.METHODS Major databases were systematically searched to collect the standards and norms of PMC in China, national multicenter cross-sectional studies, and controlled studies assessing the implementation effects of PMC from inception to February 2023.Qualitative analysis of the criteria, availability, service model and implementation effectiveness of pharmacy clinics in China was conducted.RESULTS Forty-six studies were finally included.Totally 8 studies addressed the standards of comprehensive or specialist PMC,proposed the basic requirements for opening PMC,and standardized and recom-mended all major aspects of PMC services.Totally 7 multicenter cross-sectional studies suggested that the opening rate of PMC in China was generally low, with a wide range of specialties and a variety of attendance patterns, while the fees varied widely across regions.Thirty-one studies explored the implementation effects of PMC in different specialties, and the interventions basically fol-lowed the basic process of therapeutic drug management. The outcome indicators mainly involved medication adherence,consulta-tion satisfaction, and incidence of adverse drug reactions,etc..All included studies suggested that PMC could improve patients'medication adherence and clinical outcomes.CONCLUSION China has initially constructed standards and specifications for PMC,and overall satisfied implementation results have been achieved. However, the service model, content and evaluation sys-tem of specialized PMC need to be further improved.
