Determination of potassium ion in total parenteral nutrition based on ion selective electrode
OBJECTIVE To establish and verify a rapid qualitative and quantitative method for detecting potassium ions in total parenteral nutrition solution(TPN)based on the ion selective electrode method.Which can simplify the detection process of potassium ions in clinical TPN,and provide a basis for the analysis of potassium ions in clinical TPN.METHODS The test samples were prepared according to the TPN standard operating procedures, and the potassium ions concentration in TPN solution were detected by the Hitachi 7180 automatic biochemical analyzer. The potassium ions in three commonly used TPNs were mea-sured,and evaluated the applicability of this method.RESULTS The concentration range of this method is 6.71~44.74 mmol· L-1,r=0.999 8.The accuracy of the four concentrations of potassium ions in TPN is in the range of 98.5%~102.6%,preci-sion<10%.CONCLUSION This method is suitable for rapid qualitative and quantitative detection of potassium ion concentra-tion in TPN,which can improve the efficiency of work, and reduce the adverse reactions related to clinical infusion.
