Drug induced hypersensitivity syndrome caused by piperacillin tazobactam and moxifloxacin:one case report
Drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome(DIHS)is an under-recognized and potentially life-threatening hypersensitivity reaction. One patient successively presented with fever, rash, lymphadenopathy and elevated liver enzymes after a 10-day regimen of piperacillin tazobac-tam and moxifloxacin.Improvements occurred after a discon-tinuation of all previous medications and systemic corticoste-roid therapy. For patients presenting with skin rash and sys-temic abnormalities after medications, physicians should con-sider a possible diagnosis of DIHS and adopt aggressive measures.
