Research advances on effects of major active components of Lycium ruthenicum Murr.on hematopoietic system
As a valuable medicinal and edible plant in northwest China,Lycium ruthenicum Murr.(LRM)is attracting a grow-ing attention because of its high economic,medicinal and edible values.LRM extract contains flavonoids,polysaccharides,poly-phenols,proteins,amino acids,vitamins,minerals and other nutrients with antioxidant,anti-tumor,immune regulation func-tions.The latest studies have confirmed that active ingredients of LRM could promote the recovery of bone marrow hematopoietic function after radiation injury,improve myelosuppression after radiochemotherapy,enhance body's immune function and promote the apoptosis of leukemia cells.This review summarized the major active ingredients and biological effects of LRM.It was intended to provide basic research rationales for hematopoietic stem cells and hematopoietic microenvironment of traditional Chi-nese medicine.
