Effects of Rubia yunnanensis(Franch.)on intestinal flora and metabolites of short-chain fatty acids in mice on a high choline diet
OBJECTIVE To explore the effects of Rubia yunnanensis(Franch.)on intestinal flora composition and metabo-lites of short-chain fatty acids in C57BL/6J mice on a high-choline diet.METHODS Eighteen C57BL/6J mice were randomized into three groups of blank control(Control),high choline diet(CHO)and Rubia yunnanensis(Franch.)intervention(RY).After 6-week continuous dosing, the composition of intestinal flora in intestinal feces of mice was determined by 16S rRNA sequencing and the content of short-chain fatty acids in intestinal feces measured by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.RESULTS 16S rRNA sequencing results showed that intestinal flora diversity of CHO group declined while intestinal flora diver-sity of RY group spiked as compared with CHO group. And intestinal microecology improved. The relative abundance of Lachno-spiraceae_NK4A136_group,Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium was significantly higher in RY group than that in CHO group. And the relative abundance of Desulfovibrio was significantly lower in RY group than that in CHO group. The content of short-chain fatty acids was also higher in RY group than that in CHO group.CONCLUSION Rubia yunnanensis(Franch.)may opti-mize the composition of intestinal flora, improve the microecological environment of intestinal tract, boost the content of short-chain fatty acids through enriching the abundance of beneficial bacteria and increasing the content of short-chain fatty acids. Thus it provides theoretical rationales for future clinical application of Rubia yunnanensis(Franch.).
