Infantile liver injury aggravated by iron protein-succinylate:one case report
ABSTRACT:Anemia is one of common complication in patients with chronic kidney disease.Iron supplement is a standard treatment for renal anemia.Liver is a major site of iron storage.Growing evidence suggests that long-term iron therapy is associated with a risk of hepatic iron overload. This report described one infant with aggravated liver injury after dosing of iron protein succinylate. It elucidated the mecha-nism by which iron overload causes liver damage and liver fibrosis through inducing ferroptosis. It provides a warning for long-term application of iron in the treatment of anemia in the future.
