Teacher is an important component of language education for international students studying in China,and a survey on the current status of teachers can better understand the survival and development of teachers.In light of this,combining semi-structured interviews,this study examines the current status of the development of international Chinese-language teacher at 47 universities from four dimensions:student-to-faculty ratio,educational qualifications,professional title structure,and sex ratio.This study finds that there exist problems in these aspects:the skewed student-to-faculty ratio,the polarized educational qualifications,the shortage of high-level talents and the gender imbalance.These issues have an impact on the education quality.Based on these findings,the researchers provide suggestions for teacher development of international Chinese-language teacher in universities.This study contributes to the advancement and enhancement of the construction of international Chinese-language teacher workforce,providing insights for universities to offer better language education services.
