Infections of central nervous system by Pneumocystis jirovecii:a case report and literaturesreview
The opportunistic pathogen Pneumocystis jirovecii (PJ) primarilycausedlung infections in immunocompromised patients,whileextrapulmonary infection being extremely rare.A case of central nervous system infection caused by PJ in our hospital was reported.The patient was a 68 year old female who was admitted to the hospital due to vomiting,fever,and transient unconsciousness.She was diagnosed by PCR test of cerebrospinal fluid.After anti-infectioustreatment with trime-thoprim sulfamethoxazole,the clinical symptoms basically disappeared,andinfection indexes returned to normal.Therefore,therapeutic analysis was conducted to provide clinical guidance for similar cases.
