Observation on the therapeutic efficacy of Xanthium Rhinitis Dripping Pills on refractory allergic rhinitis and its pharmacological effects on the lesion
Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy of Xanthium Rhinitis Dropping Pills(XRDP)on refractory allergic rhinitis(RAR)and its pharmacodynamic mechanism underlying the therapeutic effect on the condition. Methods A total of 102 patients with RAR,treated in the outpatient department of our hospital, were randomly divided into observation group(OG)and control group(CG),with 51 cases in each. The cases in CG were treated with ebastine plus fluticasone propionate nasal spray, while those in OG were treated by a combined therapy with additionally added XRDP to the treating program as used for CG.Then, observed in a comparative way were such indicators as the total effective rate and the changed tendencies in the scores of clinical symptoms and signs, the serum levels of inflammatory factors IL-4,IL-6,IL-34,immunoglobulin IgE,and nasal mucociliary clearance rate(NMCR)to analyze their therapeutic effects and the main underlying pharmacodynamic mechanisms on the lesion by the end of the therapeutic course. Results The total effective rate of OG was 93.02%,significantly higher than that(74.35%)of CG(P<0.05).By the end of the therapeutic course, the scores of clinical symptoms and signs, the levels of IL-4,IL-6,IL-34,and that of IgE were all significantly lowered and the one of NMCR obviously elevated in both groups(P<0.05),but with the changed amplitudes of all these indicators markedly higher in OG than that of CG(P<0.05).Conclusion It could be concluded from this trial as that Xanthium Rhinitis Dripping Pills could obviously improve the therapeutic effect of routine treating procedures on RAR,and the pharmacodynamic mechanisms of it might be associated with these effects of reducing the levels of these inflammatory factors and that of IgE in serum, with an obvious recovery effect on the function of nasal mucosal cilia in nasal clearance promoted as well.
