Investigation on the association of tongue body with the indicators detected by polysomnography among OSAHS cases with the pattern of phlegm-blood stasis intermingle
Objective To investigate the association of TCM tongue body with the indicators detected by polysomnography(PSG)among obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)cases with the pattern of phlegm-blood stasis intermingle. Methods Included in this trial were 290 cases with OSAHS diagnosed by PSG and with the pattern of phlegm-blood stasis intermingle determined by specialized TCM doctors. Then, carefully determined was their tongue body, mainly the degrees of corpulent tongue,in the terms of TCM,and further, investigated carefully was the association of their tongue body,or the degrees of corpulent tongue differentiated as two degrees as corpulent tongue and non-corpulent tongue, with the quantitative and objective indicators determined by PSG.Result According to the criteria of Friedman tongue body scale division, the difference in tongue body among patients with OSAHS was statistically significant, with Spearman r=0.173(P<0.01.1).When the correlation of tongue body with the indicators of PSG was investigated by Spearman test,it was found that the correlation coefficients among them were also statistically significant, with their t and P values being such as tongue body correlated with MAI=-2.126(P<0.05),tongue body with AHI =-4.543(P<0.01),and tongue body with SpO2<90%=-2.766(P<0.01).Conclusion The changes in the tongue body,in terms of TCM tongue diagnosis, among OSA patients might hold certain internal association with the indicators of PSG,and these indicators can provide some objective supporting evidences to pattern differentiation of OSAHS patients.
