Clinical observation of CO2 laser tonsillotomy for children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of CO2 laser assisted tonsillotomy in the treatment of children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS).Methods A total of 84 children with OSAS who received surgical treatment in our department were divided into the observation group and the control group,42 cases in each group. The observation group received tonsillotomy treatment by CO2 laser, while the control group received tonsillectomy treatment. The clinical therapeutic effect, intraoperative blood loss and postoperative bleeding rate, postoperative pain, postoperative recovery time of general diet, recurrence, infection and discomfort of pharynx during postoperative follow-up for half a year were compared between the two groups. Results The effective rate of the observation group was similar to that of the control group(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, the children in the observation group had shorter operation time, less intraoperative blood loss, lower postoperative pain scores on the first and third days, and faster resumption of general diet, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The proportion of postoperative bleeding in the control group was higher than that in the observation group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in recurrence, infection and dry throat discomfort between the two groups after 6 months of follow-up(P>0.05).Conclusions The clinical treatment efficacy of CO2 laser assisted tonsillotomy in the treatment of children with OSAS is definite, with less intraoperative bleeding, lower postoperative pain score and postoperative bleeding rate, which is conducive to faster postoperative recovery and is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
