Clinical analysis and literature veview of four cases of nasopharyngeal papillary adenocarcinoma
Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and prognosis of nasopharyngeal papillary adenocarcinoma,in order to provide guidance for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.Method A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 4 patients with nasopharyngeal papillary adenocarcinoma who underwent complete resection under nasal endoscopy at the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Department of Qingdao University Affiliated Hospital from December 2020 to February 2022.All 4 patients were male, aged 45~67 with an average age of 55 years old.The clinical characteristics, treatment methods, and prognosis of nasopharyngeal papillary adenocarcinoma patients were analyzed and summarized. Results Among the 4 patients with nasopharyngeal papillary adenocarcinoma,2 had the main symptom of blood in the nasal discharge,1 had unilateral nasal obstruction, and 1 had bilateral nasal discharge. After pathological biopsy confirmed the diagnosis, all patients underwent endoscopic surgery, and the tumor was completely removed during the surgery. After follow-up for 16-30 months,no tumor recurrence was found in endoscopic and MRI examinations. Conclusion Nasopharyngeal papillary adenocarcinoma is extremely rare in clinical practice, and complete resection through nasal endoscopy is an effective treatment for nasopharyngeal papillary adenocarcinoma, with a good prognosis for patients.
