The efficacy of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation combined with acupoint injection in the treatment of acute refractory tinnitus
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation(TEAS)combined with acupoint injection in the treatment of acute refractory tinnitus and its impact on patient anxiety and depression scores. Methods Eighty patients with acute refractory tinnitus were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 40 cases in each group. In addition to conventional medication, the control group received TEAS at the Tinggong,Zhongzhu, and Yifeng points on the affected side, with a stimulation intensity that the patients could perceive without causing pain or discomfort. The observation group underwent TEAS combined with Ermigen points injection. The Tinnitus Functional Index(TFI),Generalized Anxiety Disorder(GAD-7),and Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9)were used as the main outcome measures. The assessments were conducted at 2 and 4 weeks after treatment, and the treatment effects were evaluated by comparing the results with those before treatment. Results The severity of tinnitus in both groups improved compared to before treatment(P<0.05).The observation group had lower TFI scores than the control group at different time points(P<0.05).Anxiety and depression scores in both groups decreased at different time points compared to before treatment(P<0.05),with no statistically significant differences between the groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, mainly consisting of TEAS combined with retroauricular acupoint injection, has a significant therapeutic effect on acute refractory tinnitus, and can effectively alleviate anxiety and depression in tinnitus patients. It is worth further research and promotion.
