The value of lateral cephalometric X ray and nasal endoscopy in the diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy in children
Objective To observe the diagnostic value of lateral cephalometric X ray and nasal endoscopy in children with adenoid hypertrophy. Methods A total of 116 children under 14 years old who were admitted to our hospital for adenoid hyperplasia from January 2022 to September 2022 were selected, all of them underwent lateral cephalometric X ray and nasal endoscopy. The results of the two groups were compared. The receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC curve)of A/N value was analysed. Results There was no significant difference between the two groups. The ROC curve suggested that the A/N value of lateral cephalometric X ray had a high diagnostic value for adenoid hypertrophy in children. Conclusion The results of lateral cephalometric X ray are consistent with those of nasal endoscopy.Lateral cephalometric X ray can be used as a screening tool for the diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy in children.
