Research progress in prevention and treatment of ulcerative colitis by regulating endoplasmic reticulum stress-related pathways
Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic nonspecific inflammatory disease of the colon and rectum that is refractory. At present, the pathogenesis of UC is believed to be related to many factors, including genetic factors, environmental factors, immune factors, etc.,but the specific etiology has not been confirmed. In recent years,a large number of studies have found that endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS)plays an important role in the preven-tion and treatment of UC.This pathway has become one of the hot spots in the prevention and treatment of UC.The research of Traditional Chinese Medicine has also made some progress in this field.ERS mainly involves IRE1/XBP-1,ATF6 and PERK/eIF2α/ATF4/CHOP pathway and apoptosis pathway. This paper summarizes how Traditional Chinese Medicine affects ERS status and plays a role in the prevention and treatment of UC by regulating these four pathways, and summarizes the Traditional Chinese Medicine involved in each pathway,pro-viding ideas for further research on the prevention and treatment of UC by Traditional Chinese Medicine.
