Objective:To compare the value of reduced field-of-view DWI(r-FOV DWI)and full field-of-view DWI(f-FOV DWI)in patients with rectal cancer.Methods:52 patients with rectal cancer underwent MRI scan, including both r-FOV and f-FOV DWI.Among the 52 patients,9 cases were T2 stage,35 cases were T3 stage and 8 cases were T4 stage. Two radiologists evaluated image quality parameters, including image sharpness, distortion, artifacts, lesion conspicuity. The SNR,CNR and ADC values were quantitatively evaluated using the paired t-test.One-way ANOVA was used to compare the ADC values between the two sequences images in different T stages of rectal cancer. Results:The subjective image quality score,SNR,CNR of r-FOV DWI sequence were statistical higher than those of f-FOV DWI(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference between mean ADC value of rectal cancer between the two sequences(P>0.05).Apart from T1 stage,ADC values of rectal cancer in different T stages were significant differences between the two sequences(all P<0.05).ADC values of the two sequences were negatively related with T staging(r=-0.678,-0.631).Conclusions:Compared with f-FOV DWI,r-FOV DWI improves image quality, and can be used in evaluation of histological T staging of rectal cancer.
