To investigate the rescue capability of emergency teams in the plateau and alpine areas,the critical elements of emergency rescue were analyzed. The characteristics of emergency rescuein these areas were discussed,and an index systemfor assessing the rescue capability of emergency teams in the plateau and alpine areas,consisting of 4 first-level indexes and 18 second-level indexes,was divided combining with the evaluation indexes of traditional emergency teams. An AHP method cor-rected by the combination weighting method of game theory was proposed,then an evaluation model for the rescue capability of emergency teams in the plateau and alpine areas was constructed and applied to an emergency team in Nyingchi,Tibet. The results show that the rescue capability construction of this emergency team can basically meet the emergency rescue needs of the areas covered by its rescue scope,but there are still some shortcomings. In the follow-up work,the team construction and professional rescue should be the important way to improve the rescue capability of the emergency team,among which the plan formulation,training and exercises,disaster crisis control and disaster environment identification should be the key links to improve their capability. The research results can provide a clear path and method reference for the capacity construction,im-provement and evaluation of emergency teams in theplateau and alpine areas.
