Efficacy of Herbal Poultice Combined with Shentong Zhuyu Decoction on Lumbar Disc Herniation
Objective:To analyze the efficacy of herbal poultice combined with Shentong Zhuyu decoction in patients with Qi stagnation and blood stasis type lumbar disc herniation.Methods:A total of 94 patients with lumbar disc herniation treated from October 2020 to October 2023 were included in this study.Patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,with 47 patients in each group.The control group received herbal poultice treatment,while the observation group received a combination of herbal poultice and Shentong Zhuyu decoction.All patients were treated for 2 weeks.Clinical efficacy was recorded,and pain scores for the lower back and legs were compared before treat-ment,after 3 d,1 week,and 2 weeks of treatment.Serum markers(C-reactive protein(CRP),prostaglandin E2(PEG2),serotonin(5-HT)),traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores(back pain stiffness,lower limb numbness,lum-bar and knee soreness),lumbar function,and lumbar mobility were also compared before and after treatment.Results:The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group.There was a statistical-ly significant difference in post-treatment pain scores,serum markers,TCM syndrome scores,and assessments of lumbar function and mobility,all favoring the observation group(P＜0.05).Conclusion:The combination of herbal poultice and Shentong Zhuyu decoction enhances the treatment efficacy in patients with lumbar disc herniation,reduces pain,and im-proves lumbar function.
